One of the most unique festivals in all of Hokkaido, Kyowa Town's Scarecrow Festival features a number of exciting events that attract some of the largest crowds in the region.

The two most noteworthy events that happen during the weekend festival are the horse-cart races and the scarecrow contest. The horse races are a celebration of Kyowa Town's past as a horse-breeding centre in Hokkaido and the scarecrow festival is central to the festival itself.
