Winter Shuttle - A Great Way to Get to Niseko!

Here are your winter shuttle options from New Chitose Airport to Niseko

Coming to Niseko this winter and wondering how to get here from the airport? Not used to driving in snow? Don't want to drag your all of your gear bags on the train but also don't feel like paying for private transportation? Then, the best option for you will be taking the winter shuttle!

In summer, renting a car and enjoying the beautiful Hokkaido scenery on the way to Niseko would have been the best option. But during winter, not everybody can handle driving in heavy snow; don't think driving in snow is easy - it can be a quite nerve racking experience.

JR, or Japan Railroad, is known for its accurate and on-time operation. There is a train station on the B1F of New Chitose Airport and from there, you can take the train to Kutchan/Hirafu/Niseko stations via Otaru. Make sure to ask a friend or hotel staff to pick you up from the station and make sure to confirm which station they are expecting you. The main downside of taking the train though is that you have to carry all your suitcases, ski/board bags with you throughout the journey, and you will need to go up and down a set of stairs when changing trains, which isn't an easy thing to do.

Thus, we recommend taking the winter shuttle from the airport. There are various bus companies that operate shuttle services starting from early December to the end of March. Bus stops and time schedules vary between the operators, so take a look at their websites and choose the one that best fits with your Niseko vacation plan!
