Unlike 2015's race which saw sunny skies, July 2016 was a wet while the competitors sped off from Hirafu village. The rain didn't dampen the competitor's spirits, however, and the event was a huge success.

The skies did clear up in time for the celebrations and Niseko Classic Festival which happened right after the race.
