As the temperature in Niseko begins to rise, April is the perfect time to experience both winter and spring activities in town. Taking full advantage of this year's record breaking amount of snow, this month's events are centred around snow and water.

Spring Skiing
As ski lifts are open till the first week of May, individuals can get more skiing action in! For beginners, April is the perfect time to learn how to ski as the lower parts of slopes become easier to balance on. Experienced individuals can still enjoy pristine powder snow up in the top half of the mountains.

Hiking around Niseko during April is a great time to see Hokkaido's wildlife as animals slowly awake from hibernation. On a lucky day, you may even encounter the Japanese raccoon dog or the Hokkaido red fox as they roam the forests.

Snow Water Festival 2018
The annual Snow Water Festival is back! Participants are divided into teams and take part in a mass snowball (and water balloon) fight! To win, participants will need to hit their opponents with a snowball or water ball. Or grab the opponent's flag within three minutes of the game. At the event, there will be Thai food, live music from a local DJ and a special post battle onsen open for event participants.

NAC's Spring Rafting with challenging turns in higher water levels.

With the snowmelt gradually raising overall water levels in the Shiribetsu River, spring is an exciting time to raft. NAC begins spring rafting this month.

Mad Dog Jam 2018
A full two days of rails, jumps and jam at this year's Mad Dog Jam spring park event. Participate in the style contest or watch individuals perform amazing tricks. There will be live music and hot dogs as well as burgers on sale. The after party will happen on the 15th April after 8pm.
