Be part of a mesmerising, Japanese musical experience with the Japanese flute, or "shakuhachi", event on in Niseko.

Want to enjoy traditional Japanese culture during your stay in Niseko? Then why not take in the extraordinary sounds of the Japanese flute at the Shakuhachi Bamboo Flute Lesson and Performance on this January and February in Niseko.

Audience members at the free shakuhachi recital, which will be held at Sekka Lab in Kutchan, will be treated to the artistry of famed Hokkaido shakuhachi master, Seizan Nakajima. International visitors, as well as locals, are invited to attend the event to all enjoy the sounds of the Japanese flute together.

Seizan Nakajima is excited about the prospect of more people from all around the world becoming interested in the shakuhachi. There will also be English music scores available.

For those wanting to have a go playing the Japanese flute for themselves, Seizan will host a workshop before the recital, for those who are wanting to try out their talents.

The Serinsha School of Shakuhachi from Sapporo and Sekka Lab have made this event possible, with the aim of the event to increase interest in the traditional arts under a program conducted by Sapporo city.
