Five Fantastic Winter Cocktails

Warm up this winter with a variety of top shelf cocktails and memorable mixes.

Great cocktails in Niseko are synonymous with local flavour inspiration, hospitality and enjoyable evenings. Whether it’s for an après drink or classy starter, we offer some insider’s insights to the range of cocktails you can look forward to.

Bar Gyu+ (aka the Fridge Door)

One of Niseko’s most iconic bars and better known by its nickname, the Fridge Door, Bar Gyu+ is a must-try. While you’ll likely see more insta-photos of the quirky entrance than the interior, this establishment has an inviting atmosphere and excellent table service. We recommend the aromatic 7 Spices Mulled Wine for a winter warmer or the decadent Hot Buttered Rum with Hokkaido Ice Cream!

Bar Barunba

A Hirafu institution for over 20 years, Bar Barunba always brings a smile to patron’s faces. It’s infamous for its secret recipe cocktail served as a “Bruce Lee” or “Bruce Willis” depending on the size the beverage. It tastes like a refreshing citrus and berry potion combined with gummy red snake lollies. The low, leaf-covered ceiling and dim lighting creates a cosy atmosphere where, if you can get seats, you can settle in for a few good drinks and yarns.

Musu Bar

True connoisseurs cannot go past Musu Bar’s creative cocktail menu. Paired with the DJ’s oriental house beats, tasty nibbles and good vibes, this is a great spot in upper Hirafu. For a flavour burst and memorable tipple, try their Wasabi Margarita with seaweed garnish or the refreshing Yuzu Negroni. You won’t be disappointed!

Temporada Bar

Craving a classy caffeine hit to kick off your evening or keep it going? We recommend Temporada Bar’s Espresso Martini. It’s a well-balanced barista roast with just the right amount of milk foam and liquor. Enjoy the added bonus of two happy hour rounds every day, with special prices from 4-5pm and 9-10pm.

Kumo Restaurant

Unite a modern izakaya with carefully curated cocktail choices and you get a delicious après experience at Kumo Restaurant. This is the only one of our Hirafu cocktail recommendations that you can ski in and out to, perfect for a mid to late afternoon treat. We love the unique Orange Brulee beverage – a refreshing twist on a classic dessert.
