Kutchan Konpira Matsuri 2017

This three-day festival occurs every October 9, 10 and 11. The festival attracts a large variety of food stalls and festival games in Kutchan's downtown area and there are a number of ceremonies held at Konpira Temple.

The festival celebrates autumn and heralds the coming winter. On 10 October, the monks create a massive bonfire in front of the temple and then walk across the burning embers to purify their bodies and spirits.
