Visiting Niseko's Most Colourful Spots in Autumn

Koyo, refers to autumn colours or autumn foliage in Japanese. Seeing Japan's famous autumn leaves is a popular activity for many visiting Niseko as the area is home to many intricately built parks and acres of lush green forests. Feel the change in season by seeing the different shades of red at one of these locations.

Fukidashi Park Bridge

With overarching trees and water trickling down from the waterfall, this park is perfect to go for walk on a Sunday afternoon. The park features two large ponds and interconnecting streams where the spring water from Mt Yotei flows. Fukidashi Park is a popular spot and is a must-see in autumn.

Yotei Nature Park

One of the most serene places in the area is Yotei Nature Park. Located close to Makkari Shrine, the park turns to vivid colours of orange and red. Closeby is Makkari Arboretum where visitors can enjoy a short walk through the nearby forestry.

Lake Hangetsu

At the foot of Mt Yotei, Lake Hangetsu gets its name from resembling a crescent moon. During autumn, walk around the small lake and peer in it to see the reflection of the blue skies and enjoy the peaceful scenery surrounded by golden hues.
