Niseko Classic 2019

Niseko, for the sixth year in a row, has been a testing ground for toughness and bravado.

Riders migrated into Niseko from all around the world to race the Niseko Classic in hopes of qualifying for the upcoming World Championships in Poznan, Poland. Over 140 km and 2,362 vertical meters of mountain passes, brutal false-flats, and punchy hills, there was not much room for respite as the lactic acid pumped freely through the muscles, searing and pushing the body to stop.

The community rallied together to support the racers as they went the long way to lunch with a side of oxygen debt. Family and friends met the racers with well earned beer and treats under the summer sunshine.

Last year's silver medalist, Konno Genta of the SBC Vertex Racing Team, riding 15 seconds faster than last year's winning time, rolled over the line first, in 3:35:39, followed by Su Haoyu racing out of China and Makino Fumito, racing for イナーメ信濃山形.
