A two hour scenic drive away from Niseko, Shakotan is known for its bright blue sea and the Japanese delicacy, uni. Visit Cape Kamui and walk down the beautiful Shimamu beach or dive into the beautiful sapphire sea.

Come watch the sunset at Iwanai, a small fisherman town, located less than an hour away from Niseko. A popular spot among fishing enthusiasts due to the abundance of the delicious fish, try fishing for squid and take home your catch.   

Otaru

En route to Sapporo, Otaru is located an hour and a half away from Niseko. Stop by at this small harbor city to feast on the fresh seafood along the coast. In the evening, take a cruise down Otaru Canal and enjoy the night view of nostalgic old buildings and lamps.

Known for its night view, Hakodate also offers an equally spectacular view of the Japanese sea. Wander down Hakodate's fish market in the early morning and grab a tasty seafood rice bowl before heading closer to the ports for an outlook of Hakodate and the Japanese sea.
